Why keep bees

I didn't just stumble into bee keeping.  I set out to learn how to keep bees.
 I checked out every book I could find from the library, watched every documentary made.

I signed up for a class at my local beekeeping supply store.

I live on a small homestead in the Madison South neighborhood of Portland, OR. My wife and I keep 3 small, spoiled dogs, two curious chickens, and 30,000 honey bees.

This blog is the journey of beekeeping, from a novice eye. My hope is to spread interest, and concern for the plight of apis milifera. They need our help and we won't survive without them.
